Our business began with an unplanned pause and a simple desire to keep the hands busy. After decades in the precision world of IT and systems management, I found myself with a small corner of a carport, a modest lathe, and a sudden need for a creative outlet.
The large-scale furniture and kitchen cabinet projects of my past were no longer possible, but the need to create remained. This led to the discovery of woodturning and the quick satisfaction of making pens. I fell in love with the process: the speed of creation, the challenge of working with beautiful, complex materials, and the discovery of exotic burls and interesting woods.
This passion continued quietly in the background, a creative counterbalance to my return to the corporate IT career.
The Return to the Bench
Today, that passion is front and center. I've branched out from the lathe to the workbench, focusing on small, meticulously crafted items designed to bring the beauty of nature into your home—pieces like end-grain coasters, elegant candle holders, and durable cutting boards.
Every item, from a simple maple cube to a walnut and maple coaster, is driven by two simple principles:
The Beauty of the Wood: We choose wood for its inherent character, texture, and colour—the deep grain of Walnut, the bright contrast of Maple, and the unique density of other species.
The Precision of the Craft: The attention to detail honed over a career in demanding IT environments is now applied to every cut, every joint, and every finish coat.
